Shabu Shabu Ichiban really set the standard when it comes to hot pot dining.
My first time to experience shabu shabu dining was nothing short of a delectable feast. Yes, first time as you can tell by the way I hold the chop sticks, lol! When it comes to food, I am not that type of person who would love to experiment. I love the all time Filipino favorites, a lot of sea foods and a little grilled stuffs perhaps. But I don’t usually venture to the unknown, lol! So you can just imagine I’m a bit on the edge looking at these strange menus on my table, and the chopsticks gave me a huge terror! Haha!
But boy I was wrong. I realized sashimi is my new favorite dish and that I could eat without rice as long as I have a big pot in front of me seasoned with a handful of meat and lettuce. And since I am a fan of chicken wings, I did not miss the chance to grab their version of chix wings and I was really impressed. Shabu Shabu Ichiban really raised the bar of Japanese dining.
Just a little history, Shabu-shabu Ichiban is a popular hotpot restaurant from Nagoya, Japan. Ichiban, meaning “one” or “first” in Japanese, is envisioning to become the number one shabu-shabu chain in the world. The first of its kind, Shabu-shabu Ichiban introduces an authentic Japanese hotpot experience through providing 24 soup base options and unlimited servings of meat, sushi, sashimi, tempura and Alaskan king crab legs.
So here’s a quick photographic tour of the resto located in the Mountain Wing of SM Seaside Cebu. A ton of iconic Japanese lanterns and lamps hanging on the ceiling and dainty woody feels too transport you to Japan. It has the traditional tatami area and it also has a huge chiller where you can just get all you want to season your hot pot. The wall prints are very aesthetic too!
They have three steps for you to begin your feast:
Step 1 Choose your soup base
Step 2 Choose your package
Step 3 Enjoy your unlimited Shabu Shabu
For as low as P 488 per person you can already enjoy unlimited shabu shabu on your table. They also have group meals for big savings. Personally, I would go with the package which includes unlimited shabu shabu, free flowing drinks (love their strawberry iced tea!), side dishes which include sashimi, tempura, pork barbecue and chicken wings, and ice cream.
